As a writer, Ryan focuses on the strange and melancholic with much of his work steeped in philosophy, spirituality, and trauma. Ryan has written several one-act plays and short poetry, with an emphasis on concise, emotionally honest work. He also loves the challenge of timed writing festivals, having participated in two 24-hour play productions as a writer. Roger wakes up on a boat he doesn’t remember getting on, only to be told he is dead by the sweet lady sitting next to him, Death- or, as she calls herself, Peace. Standard of Care: A One Act Play

When a young woman attempts suicide, she ends up at a local hospital’s psychiatric ward. She meets with the intake doctor, but she is only left to wonder who really cares. The show explores the idea of care in the psychiatric field and all the word means.
